I’m Yana Northen, a photographer driven by my love for nature and people.
My work is inspired by the world around me—from serene landscapes to the heartfelt stories of those I meet.
Nature gives me calm and strength, fuelling my creativity and grounding me.
I believe that each person carries a unique story, and I’m grateful for the ones that stay with me and shape my vision.
As a creator and listener, I’m here to capture and celebrate those moments that move us. Let’s connect and explore the beauty around us together.
My journey began in a small town in Siberia, Russia, where I developed a lifelong love for art and creativity. Initially, I pursued a career in physical education, dedicating 15 years to coaching athletics at an Olympic sports school.
But life took an artistic turn when I became a mother and began using a Canon film camera. From the first click, I discovered a profound passion for capturing life’s fleeting beauty.
Now, I live in the peaceful countryside near Worcester, UK, where I’m a proud grandmother to two wonderful grandchildren.
Photography has become my way of telling my family’s story, and over the years, this passion has grown.
I now work with other families to create cherished memories, capturing photographs that resonate across generations.
Through my lens, I celebrate the beauty in everyday life, infusing each image with warmth, joy, and a sense of possibility.
My portfolio reflects a wide range of interests, including landscapes, wildlife, street scenes, flowers, and the art of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). Photography allows me to fulfill a childhood dream of painting, using my camera as a brush to express the colors, contrasts, and harmonies I see in the world around me.
Contrast lies at the heart of my work—whether it’s the vibrant sunrise over the lake near my home, delicate flowers in my garden, or spontaneous scenes from my travels.
Nature has inspired me throughout my life; it gives me strength, power, and helps me understand myself.
This dance of light and color is what keeps me inspired to create.
